St. Mark Parish was established in July of 1973, totally taken from land previously within the jurisdiction of St. Theresa Parish, in Gonzales, LA. Starting its life in a heavily wooded lot in a rural area of Ascension civil Parish in the State of Louisiana, the parish has progressed to its present beautifully landscaped property with church, rectory, administration building, many meeting rooms, a complete 23 classroom parish school of religion complex, a large activity center, and two meditation areas in our outdoor wayof the cross and marian grotto.
The parish has grown from 600 families in its earliest days to over 2000 families today, with a total registered membership of over 6500 registered parishioners. Five pastors have served the parish during its 36 years of existence. More than 800 students now participate in the parish's religious education programs for grades K-12. Through more than 80 ministries, the parish invites all parishioners to both serve and be served, rejoicing together in a communion of life. We are the Body of Christ reaching out to the entire surrounding community with His Good News of salvation.

St. Mark commenced a year long celebration on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the 4:00 p.m. Mass. All were invited and a reception followed. There have been two more liturgies since.
